General Scope of Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Technical Leader, the Continuous Improvement Specialist is responsible for the continual process of quality control, the improvement of processes and products and will participate in technical and new product development. This individual will regularly collaborate with the Technical Leader, the Production Team Leaders and the Operators at all levels. This position will also give you the opportunity to collaborate with other sites in the USA, Europe and Asia, the Sales Team and the Product Management Team. This person must know each step of the production process of our products from raw materials through to a finished product.

Specific Responsibilities:

We conduct business in a manner that promotes safety first. We expect personal accountability from all associates for their actions and results.

  • Test and check raw material conformity to release it for production usage (metals and polymers) as required.
  • Test and check product during the manufacturing process to ensure that it is in conformance with our quality standards (Both heat-set and Shrinkable Products).
  • Authorize production once the product testing is complete.
  • Carry out and review all fabric analysis reports.
  • Establish the disposition of non-conform of products or solve production problem.
  • Provide technical support as needed to the technical and to the production team.
  • Lead improvement projects in all three departments (Weaving, seaming and finishing) to either improve the quality or the productivity of a particular product.
  • Assist to revise seam patterns and optimization of Auto seaming to maximize customer satisfaction and ease of manufacture. Assist in equipment set-up and operator training.
  • Analyze returned fabrics from our customer in order to pinpoint the cause of a specific problem or document a customer complaint. Advise sales team on recommendation implemented in the plant to solve the issue.
  • Analyze competitive fabric samples and compile the information. Issue new product idea based on the analysis.
  • As required may assist the new product development specialist or Technical Leader on innovation projects.
  • Inform the Technical Leader of required laboratory equipment.
  • Develop New Products and processes in the lab.
  • Define product and supplier non-conformities
  • Final verification of all the production documents to ensure all steps are performed properly
  • Extract and verify all the data concerning the properties of the fabric in order to maintain the consistency of the product and to better define the product we sell (product specifications)
  • Analyze customer complaints regarding our products and the source and nature of them.
  • Enter all product related information (raw material, design, weaving, heat setting, seam, and finishing information) into the production management software in a timely fashion
  • Participate in the digital transformation plan
  • Support to maintain ISO documentation-Act as ISO representative.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Preferable Position Requirements:

Education/Experience: Community college in a technical field, or equivalent. Two or more years of related experience. Bachelor degree is preferred.

Skills as a plus:

  • Excellent knowledge of textile and pulp and paper industry; Textile manufacturing process knowledge.
  • Analytical in nature, capable of understanding manufacturing processes, fabric designs and applications, quality systems; able to diagnose and solve manufacturing problems
  • Candidates have strong French and English verbal and written communication skills, a strong commitment towards quality and service.
  • Strong computer skills, with an emphasis on MS Office software and JDE system proficiency
