AstenJohnson is looking to add a New Product Development Team Lead at our Williston, VT facility. This is a salary position.

General Scope of Responsibilities:

Research and develop polymeric materials and blends through systematic experimentation aimed toward developing improved products for our internal and external customer. Analyze new and competitive materials.

Specific Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Supervision of all New Product Development associates including conducting annual performance and developmental reviews
  • Work closely with product managers and manufacturing to identify research & development projects and priorities to meet the needs of AstenJohnson
  • Lead the team in development of new materials for the intercompany and trade business
  • Lead projects and initiatives that will strengthen AstenJohnson technical knowledge of plastic materials, contribute to the development of new products and build AstenJohnson Filaments' processing and product capabilities
  • Collaborate with outside testing facilities, universities, suppliers and customers
  • Monitor industry trends and new technology, create innovative solutions to shape digital manufacturing business
  • Participate in the company's strategic direction of product development as Filaments Global Innovation leader (GIL)
  • Believe in the value of safety; maintain a safe workplace through supporting all health & safety policies

  • Strong verbal, written and technical communication skills


  • Bachelor, Masters or PhD degree in Engineering or Applied Science.
  • Strong knowledge of polymer materials and manufacturing processes, i.e. polymer extrusion, desirable
  • Minimum of 5 years effectively managing a manufacturing or technical department
  • Lean and Six Sigma certification or experience is an asset
  • Knowledge and experience with Industry 4.0 and digital transformation in manufacturing is an asset

Working Conditions:

Ability to bend, stoop and lift 55 pounds is required. Ability to stand/walk for 4+ hours of shift is required. Candidate will be exposed to noise, warm temperatures, chemicals and industrial equipment. Candidate must be able to wear all required personal protection equipment.
